A church within Lower Darwen will be hosting a number of events all this week to commemorate and remember the First World War.
St James Church, Stopes Brow will begin their week of remembrance with a special screening of the 2011 drama War Horse, at 7:30 pm today. (Monday 10th November.)
This will be followed by musical performances and poetry recitals by local artists and school children on Wednesday, and a World War One exhibition on Thursday and Friday.
Friday evening will see the church play host to a special tea at 6 pm whilst at 7 pm a First World War play called ‘bring him home’ will be performed with both the Mayor and Mayoress of Blackburn with Darwen in attendance.
Sunday will see the close of the remembrance activities with a special remembrance service to honour those that fell from Guide, Belthorn and Lower Darwen starting at 7 pm, the Mayoress will also be in attendance.
