A special day to say ‘Thank You’ to those who have helped during the Coronavirus pandemic will take place on Sunday, 4 July.
The first national ‘Thank You Day’ will take place this weekend as a way of acknowledging those in our communities who have helped through the crisis so far.
Civic Leaders are backing the national day of recognition and have shared their messages of support and appreciation. Blackburn with Darwen Councillors also filmed messages of thank you at the last Full Council meeting.
During such difficult times, Blackburn with Darwen residents and employees have risen to the challenge. Thank You Day offers people the chance to pause and say thank you to everyone who came together to help one another.
Councillor Derek Hardman, Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen, said:
I’d like to thank all the doctors, nurses, volunteers and staff who have delivered the covid vaccines during this pandemic period. I think they’ve done a fantastic job.
Councillor Mohammed Khan, Leader of Blackburn with Darwen Council, added:
My heartfelt thanks to all our volunteers for being an inspiration to us all. Your kindness is really appreciated. May God bless you for your tremendous initiative.
As well as those who have gone above and beyond in their neighbourhoods, the Council also praised their staff for efforts and resilience during a difficult time.
Chief Executive Denise Park said:
I want to say thank you to all staff right across the Council who have put everything into supporting our residents and communities throughout the pandemic. Thank you.
Whether you want to say thank you to a neighbour, community volunteer, or professional, you can shout about it on social media using the hashtag #ThankYouDay.
