Care Leavers Christmas gifts were distributed at their winter event after generous donations from local businesses and partner agencies.

Blackburn with Darwen Council staff and Councillors also contributed, in particular the Highways department who always excel themselves for the care leaving team.

This generosity has ensured that all care experienced young adults aged 18-25 years will receive a gift for Christmas.

As corporate parents the Council has special responsibilities to care experienced children and young people.

As well as receiving their gifts at the winter event, the young people enjoyed party food, sang karaoke, painted baubles and much more.

The event was also attended by Director of Children’s Services and Education, Joanne Siddle and Cllr Julie Gunn, Executive Member for Children’s, Young People and Education.

Cllr Gunn said:

I really enjoyed attending the Winter event for care leavers and seeing our young people enjoy themselves.

We are always extremely grateful for all the generous donations provided; it makes such a difference to our young people especially during the festive period which isn’t always a happy time for all.

Thank you to everyone who contributed and helped us ensure we continue to be the best corporate parents possible.
