Blackburn with Darwen Council has responded to the fantastic news that children in the borough will get support for mental health concerns in schools as part of an NHS Trailblazer programme.
Councillor Maureen Bateson, Executive Member for Children’s, Young People and Education, said:
I am delighted that Blackburn with Darwen will benefit from this funding.
Sadly, we know mental health issues in schools are increasing throughout the country.
The key is early intervention and putting early support in place to prevent our children from reaching any crisis point.
I look forward to seeing how the project develops and hopefully it will show that having a clear focus on promoting good mental wellbeing hugely benefits the pupils, the staff and the school as a whole.
