Christmas is set to come early for one small business in Blackburn with Darwen with more than £1k of free advertising up for grabs!

To celebrate Small Business Saturday, Blackburn with Darwen Council is offering a bumper prize to one lucky business in the borough.

The package will include advertising space on the large digital screen in Blackburn town centre, ads in five bus shelters across the borough and plugs on the digital totems at Blackburn’s bus and train stations for two weeks.

The digital screen itself, outside the Town Hall, is seen by a potential audience of almost 170,000 people a week.

There’s also the chance to feature on the council’s news website, The Shuttle,  and its social media pages.

And it’s easy to enter!

Facebook users, including businesses and customers, can nominate by posting in the comment section of the special competition post on the council’s Facebook page, ‘Blackburn with Darwen Council.

The business with the most nominations on Monday, December 3 will be crowned the winner!

Councillor Quesir Mahmood, the council’s  Assistant Executive Member for Regeneration and Growth, said:

As a council we are passionate about supporting our local businesses.

This competition is a fantastic way for a small business to win more than £1,000 of free advertising – which will be seen by hundreds of thousands of potential customers from right across the borough.

Whether it’s a market stall, a favourite florist, hairdressers, restaurant or an online store, if they’re based in the borough, they’ve all got a chance of winning!

The Council offers a range of advertising packages to support businesses across the borough, all offered at a not-for-profit rate.

As well as those offered as part of the prize, there’s advertising opportunities on the roadside and roundabouts, billboards and space in the council’s newspaper, The Shuttle.

Councillor Mahmood added:

It’d be fantastic for residents to show their support for our small businesses and get nominating for this competition.

We’re really lucky in Blackburn with Darwen to have a fantastic range of independent traders who I’m sure would be delighted to win this fabulous prize.

I’d like to wish everyone who enters the very best of luck.

Small Business Saturday is a national campaign that takes place every first Saturday of December. This year it will be held on December 1.

It’s a drive to ask residents to shop local and support the small businesses where they live.
