Two foster carers have talked about their positive experiences as Blackburn with Darwen Council’s Time 4 Change Fostering Team seeks warm and nurturing carers to become part of their specialist, multi-professional team.
Adam and Kerri started looking into fostering around two years ago and visited an open day in Blackburn to learn more.
There, it was suggested they may be a good match for the council’s MTFC programme, and following several months of assessment and intense training the couple fostered a 7-year-old boy.
The Multi-dimensional Treatment Foster Care programme, known as Time 4 Change Fostering, is for school age children from 7-11 years with complex needs, and provides intensive and bespoke support through short term placements.
Adam said:
the MTFC programme provides wrap-around support; we have a full team that’s dedicated to the children in our care.
This support network extends to other carers on the programme, who get together once a week and share advice.
Both told just how much they enjoy being part of the Time 4 Change programme, saying:
We genuinely love what we do.
Adam also encouraged those thinking about fostering to get in touch with the Council’s Fostering Team, and said
If you are considering fostering, go along to an open day, get that little bit more information.
An open day is being held on Monday, 1 June, which will give an opportunity to learn more about Time 4 Change and ask any questions you have about becoming a foster carer.
