Candidates standing for election in Blackburn with Darwen

The full list of candidates standing for the local elections in Blackburn with Darwen has now been published.

Elections will take place on Thursday, May 4th and residents can vote for one candidate in their ward. Only one seat in each ward is up for election. 

The Council has published the Statement of Persons Nominated for the local elections, giving the names of all candidates who will be standing.

There are 47 candidates standing for election across the borough’s 17 wards.

Key dates and information

  • The deadline for registering to vote is midnight on Monday 17 April 2023
  • Deadline day for postal vote applications 5.00pm Tuesday 18 April 2023
  • Deadline for proxy vote applications(if you need someone else to cast your vote)00pm Tuesday 25 April 2023
  • Deadline to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate (if you don’t have any other form of accepted photo ID) is Tuesday 25 April 2023

  • Polling stations will be open between 7am and 10pm on Thursday 4 May and the votes will be counted the following day.
