A children’s social care recruitment event has been organised to bring extra support to young people’s services across Blackburn with Darwen.
The children’s recruitment and information event will take place on January 21 and is open for those who want to find out about our children’s teams, their roles and the great work they are doing with children and young people in our community.
It’s an ideal time to join one of the BwD social care teams with our new TRACK values – Trust, Respect, Ambition, Collaboration and Kindness – all forming a new culture in the council.
We have a wide range of positions to fill including:
- Duty, Assessment and Child in Need Social Workers
- Child Protection, Pre-proceedings and Court Social Workers
- Independent Reviewing Officers
- Children in our Care Social Workers
- Team Managers
- Advanced Practitioners
On the day, our Interim Director of Children’s Services and Education, Joanne Siddle will talk about the opportunities available and how one of these roles could be a great job for someone who wants to work within the children’s sector.

It is an ideal time to join the children’s services team at BwD as we approach the New Year with a new approach on how we work with our children, young people, families and our partners.
We have a wide range of roles available and I will be talking about the future of our services as well as how rewarding it can be when working in our directorate.
Last year’s event was a huge success and we have been able to improve the work that do across the borough by focusing on our TRACK values of Trust Respect Ambition Collaboration and Kindness.Social workers and managers will be available to share their knowledge and I would encourage everyone to come along to find out how they can make a difference to children and young people’s lives in Blackburn with Darwen – as well as gaining an insight into having a rewarding career in children’s services.
We recommend booking an interview slot but you can just turn up on the day.
Priority will be given to those who have booked a slot for the event on January 21, 2023 between 9.30am and 1.30pm in Duke Street. There will be free parking on the day. Please use the staff entrance.
The Council offers excellent training and development opportunities, flexible and agile ways of working, employee discount scheme, a defined career pathway with team support and administrative support.
