A by-election will take place for Blackburn with Darwen Council’s Higher Croft ward on Thursday, December 15 following the sad and untimely death of long serving councillor Michael Johnson.

Anyone who isn’t already registered to vote must do so by midnight on Tuesday, November 29.

For people wanting to cast their vote by post, the last date to apply is Wednesday, November 30 by 5pm and the last date to apply for a proxy vote is Wednesday, December 7 by 5pm.

Anybody eligible to vote is being advised to carefully check their polling card for the location of their polling station.

Voters should be aware that there will be a mobile unit set up as an alternative to voting at the St James Church lounge. This will be on Aster Chase roadway near its junction with Stopes Brow.

Voting at Longshaw Junior School will now take place at the mobile unit on Park Lee Road between the Hospice entrance and Markazuk Uloom girls entrance before Mowbray Avenue.
