With under six weeks to go until the Coronation of HRH King Charles III on Saturday 6 May, there will be lots of opportunities for local residents to mark the occasion.
Coronation Champions Awards
The Royal Voluntary Service is calling for nominations for its Coronation Champions Awards. The search is on for extraordinary volunteers who make significant contributions to their communities.
Launched by Her Majesty The Queen Consort, the awards will recognise the unsung heroes who give their time and talents generously to enhance the lives of others.
Anyone can make a nomination via the Royal Voluntary Service website.
Nominees must be over the age of 14 years, and the closing date to make nominations is Sunday 2 April.
The Coronation Big Lunch & neighbourhood street parties
The government is keen for everyone to have an opportunity to celebrate this momentous occasion for our nation over the Coronation bank holiday weekend 6-8 May.
Anyone planning a street party or Coronation Big Lunch in their neighbourhood can find details of how to apply for road closures, if necessary, and other guidance at www.theshuttle.org.uk/coronation.
Coronation Big Lunch packs can also be downloaded from the Eden Communities website.
Blackburn with Darwen Chief Executive Denise Park commented:
Occasions such as the Coronation are the perfect opportunity for communities to come together to share celebrations. This will be such a momentous occasion, particularly after the 70 year reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
In the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing details of more ways local residents can get involved in marking King Charles’s Coronation.
