Councillor Phil Riley Executive Member for Regeneration and Growth said:
This is a remarkable accolade for the town and for all involved. Only the second year and judged to be the best in the country! Wow! It really goes to illustrate the Council’s commitment to the creative arts.
We are naturally delighted that the Festival has yet again scooped another highly prestigious award and this time from national judges.
The Festival and the brilliant Festival team working behind the scenes to make it happen have started a process where people outside the town now look at us differently. It also underlines how important manufacturing is to Blackburn both historically and to the current economy and how proud we all are of that history.
The festival provides a massive boost for the town’s tourism profile, supporting businesses in the borough, and this is so important to us.”
