The countdown to Christmas has begun in Blackburn as business leaders reveal the date for the town’s annual lights switch-on.
Blackburn will shimmer and sparkle when the Christmas lights are illuminated on Saturday, 26th November 2016 during a sci-fi, dance themed spectacular.
Due to public demand, the annual event has been moved from a Thursday evening to earlier on a Saturday make it more convenient for the local community and visitors to travel to.
The event, organised by the Blackburn BID (Business Improvement District) in partnership with Blackburn with Darwen Council will be hosted by Rock FM presenters and sponsored by Blackburn Market and The Mall will take place between 4pm and 6pm.
Organisers of this year’s event have planned a switch-on distinctly different to previous years with further details of who will be on stage to be announced on Monday, 3rd October 2016.
The switch-on is part of the ‘Blackburn Big Christmas’ campaign which incorporates free entertainment and large scale events across the town centre on four Saturdays in the run up to Christmas.
