Blackburn’s Blooming Floral Displays

Visitors to Blackburn can enjoy a more colourful high street after Blackburn’s Business Improvement District invested an additional £25,000 into the town’s annual planting scheme.

Free standing three-tier planters, railing baskets and finger post baskets containing thousands of pink, white and purple petunias have been planted, placed and arranged outside shops and local attractions.

The additional floral displays spread further across the town centre and the BID area than previous years and will be maintained by Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council as part of the town’s planting programme.

This year’s order has been increased, by the Blackburn BID and the council after last year’s displays were praised by traders and shoppers for brightening up the town centre.
The displays cover a wide area including Railway Station, Church Street, Darwen Street, King Street, Northgate, King William Street, Town Hall Street and Sudell Cross.

Manager of the Blackburn BID, Harriet Roberts, said:

This is the second year we have invested in this level of flowers and foliage following really positive comments from visitors and traders last year. The flowers create a brighter more attractive town centre and we hope visitors enjoy the displays which are bigger than last years.
