The classic Blackburn Soul Nights return this month bringing the sounds of Northern Soul. Motown and Dance back to King George’s Hall.
Now in its 23rd year, The North West’s longest running Northern Soul night.
King George’s Hall has become the modern day hot-spot for soul aficionados, with events to rival the legendary all-nighters at the Wigan Casino.
The Blackburn venue, which hosts the UK’s biggest soul nights, continues the legacy created by Northern Soul clubs of the bygone era, including Manchester’s famous Twisted Wheel.
Saturday 28th January sees a six hour dance night featuring a whole range of DJs at the venue that was chosen to feature in the movie ‘NORTHERN SOUL’.
This month sees Richard Searling, Ginger Taylor, Keith Fletcher, Shaun and Tezza
and, special guest, Romen hosting the Northern Room featuring Classic Northern Soul & Motown until 2am.
The Modern Soul Room will feature Soulful Dance & Modern Soul and the party doesn’t end until 3am! Featuring Colin Curtis, Mike Stephens, Paul Garland, Paul Mac & Barry Maleedy.
Richard Searling, a well known voice on the radio, started his DJ career in 1971 via a contact at Ralph’s Records in Manchester and eventually went on to play great venues like Va-Vas in Bolton, The Pendulum in Manchester and the Wigan Casino.
Richard said,
The team at King Georges and myself are proud to be celebrating the 23rd year of the North West’s longest-running Soul night out. Since we started up the sessions in one room back in the 90s, we have enjoyed many highlight nights and fabulous soul going back to the days of the Twisted Wheel and Wigan Casino in the Ballroom and Jazz Funk and Modern Soul anthems in both Blakey’s Bar and The Windsor Suite. I can’t wait to be back.
The event will take place at King George’s Hall, Blackburn on Saturday, January 28 from 9pm-3am. Tickets from £11 in advance.
Tickets available online at www.kinggeorgeshall.com, by phone 0844 847 1664 or by visiting the box office (Open Monday Friday 9am – 5pm Saturday: 10am – 3pm)
