Spicy food lovers can enjoy an array of tastes, smells and colours at Blackburn Market’s Spice Festival this weekend.

Visitors will be able to sample various different types of spicy food including chilli chocolate, spice wine, chilli fudge and curry paste at the festival on Saturday, 10th September.

More than fifteen stalls filled with a variety of tasty treats will line Church Street between 11am and 5pm.

Other specialities at the free event include nutmeg oil, chilli ice cream and inimitable spice infused foods.

Spice-lovers can also take part in a ‘Chilli Dare’ competition to test their taste buds on the day.

The Spice Festival, organised by Blackburn Market, is the first of its kind to take place in the town centre.

Event organiser, John Mayoh, said:

We are hoping that it’s going to be a day of fiery family fun for all with a real party atmosphere and spice infused treats from across the world. Come along and enjoy what’s going to be the hottest day of the year in Blackburn.

There will also be a Cuban jazz band and other musical performances to create the right atmosphere for visitors.

Entry for this event is free.
