Capita’s partnership with Blackburn with Darwen Council has started infrastructure work to support an exciting new project for 700 new homes.
The work on Gib Lane will provide the necessary highways infrastructure changes to support the development of the new homes being built over the next few years.
The works are designed to install the utility services necessary for the new housing as well as improving access to the surrounding countryside.
So far 50 metres of footway has been constructed, and Capita’s Civil Engineering Design Team will carry out horizontal and vertical alignments on roads, install new street lighting, drainage and pavement designs, as well as completing regulation orders and principal design duties.
Councillor Phil Riley, Blackburn with Darwen Executive member for Regeneration, said:
It is really good to see the vital infrastructure work progressing on this exciting development. It is an ambitious project that will bring a large number of new houses to the borough.”
To manage expectations of the works, Capita is holding various community outreach forums to involve local residents as much as possible while the works take place, and leaflets with works timelines have been distributed to residents.
Information can also be found on the Bwd Roads Facebook and Twitter pages.
Blackburn with Darwen Council welcomes any feedback about the works being carried out – a survey is available at: www.surveymonkey.co.uk/3GVJTXP
The works are expected to be complete in early April 2018.
