A landmark Blackburn pub has been transformed into a luxury Mediterranean restaurant – creating 40 new jobs in the borough.
Prestigious restaurant company Ego has taken over the Knowles Arms, Brownhill, opening its doors for the first time on Monday, September 5.
The popular chain has created an additional 40 jobs for local people as a result of the takeover.
Head chef at the restaurant is Andy Hockney who has spent the last five years cooking up a culinary storm at the popular Lytham branch.
General Manager Jon Mensforth, who has been running Lytham’s Ego for the past seven years, said:
It’s really exciting to be opening our latest restaurant in Blackburn, on what is a fantastic site.
At the heart of our ambition with the Knowles Arms is to deliver restaurant quality food and service in a warm, clean, friendly and family environment with an emphasis on quality and value.
We are delighted to be here, offering customers easy access and visibility in addition to having a vast car park that will be more than adequate for our 180 restaurant covers, bar area and outdoor terrace. We hope people come along and enjoy the experience.
Councillor Phil Riley, Blackburn with Darwen Council’s Executive Member for Regeneration, said:
This is a fantastic addition to the borough’s repertoire of high quality dining and drinking establishments.
Having such a high quality brand here in the area compliments exactly our ambition for the borough and offers a further welcome boost to our local economy.
And there’s something for everyone at the trendy venue, whether that be 2 for 1 cocktails served every day until 7pm to a pint of your favourite cask ale supplied from local brewery Moorhouses.
There’s special offers on every day of the week with an extensive gluten free menu available. Sundays will also include children’s entertainment in the afternoon from the Party Crew.
Ego now has 12 resturants across the country and has plans to open two more by the end of the year in Mansfield and Nottinghamshire.
