Blackburn’s newest art venue, The Bureau Centre for the Arts, is holding a series of lantern making workshops ahead of this year’s Festival of Light celebration.
The artist-led workshops hosted by Kerris Casey St Pierre at The Bureau invites individuals, families and groups to make a lantern at one of the three remaining workshops for a minimum donation of £1 with all materials provided.
Participants at the workshops will work alongside professional artists to make lanterns from willow and paper.
The first of the lantern-making sessions which took place on Sunday, November 8, attracted more participants than ever before. Artist and event organiser Kerris said:
We are thrilled at the popularity of the first lantern making session which has exceeded our expectations. This year, the lantern parade is going to be bigger and better than ever before and we invite more people to come along to the remaining workshops.”
Each workshop, funded by Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council and organised by the Blackburn Business Improvement District (BID) will be held at The Bureau, Victoria Street on Sunday 15, November 22 and 29 from 10am – 4pm.
All lanterns will be on display at Blackburn’s annual lantern parade, which takes place on Thursday, December 10.
