Join the country’s biggest-ever Spring clean and help make Blackburn with Darwen tidy.

The Great British Spring Clean takes place from 22 March – 23 April across the UK, organised by Keep Britain Tidy – and we need you to take action to improve the environment on your doorstep by joining the country’s biggest clean-up campaign.

The campaign is aiming to inspire people to join forces – in partnership with community organisations, businesses and councils – to collect and safely dispose of litter from Blackburn with Darwen’s streets and parks, recycling as much as possible.

A clean up is taking place on Saturday 23 March in and around the Cherry Street area of Blackburn.

More information and registration is available on the Keep Britain Tidy website.

To take part in the Great British Spring Clean, you can:

  • register to host a public or private clean-up
  • join a local clean-up
  • pledge to do their own thing.

Councillor Jim Smith, Executive member for Environment, said:

I hope the Great British Spring Clean will bring people together to help tidy up any areas with litter and help people take pride in our borough. We do our best to keep the borough tidy but it is a difficult job with the small minority who insist on dropping rubbish and causing work for the Council and the wonderful community clean-up teams who work so hard.

We are delighted to support this campaign, it is a great initiative and I want to thank everyone who will be giving their time to join in a community litter pick or just do one themselves– you are all heroes.”
