Christmas is set to come early for one small business in Blackburn with Darwen with more than £1k of free advertising up for grabs!
Following the success of our last competition to celebrate Small Business Saturday, Blackburn with Darwen Council is once again offering a bumper prize to one lucky business in the borough.
The package will include advertising space on the large digital screen in Blackburn town centre, ads in five bus shelters across the borough as well as coverage on the Council’s digital totems.
There’s also the chance to feature on the council’s news website and its social media pages – helping to reach potential new customers right across the area!
Councillor Phil Riley, the Council’s Executive Member for Growth and Development, said:
Our borough’s small businesses need our support more now than ever before.
We know that advertising can play a really important role in promoting a business and attracting new customers so we’ve decided to bring back the popular competition again for 2020.
We also know that sadly many of our local businesses are sadly struggling, that they’ve had to close due to the pandemic and faced some real challenges this year.
We hope this prize will give a much welcome boost to the winner as the advertising will be seen by thousands and thousands of people in our borough.
The competition is really easy to enter. Facebook users, including businesses and customers, can nominate by posting in the comment section of the special competition post pinned to the top of the council’s Facebook page.
The business with the most nominations on December 14th will be crowned the winner!
Small Business Saturday is a national campaign that takes place every first Saturday of December.
It’s a drive to ask residents to shop local and support the small businesses where they live.
This year, it will be held on December 5th.
Councillor Phil Riley added:
We’re doing everything we possibly can to support our local businesses, but they really need us all to get behind them this festive season.
Residents can help make a difference by doing as much of their Christmas shopping as they can locally.
Local businesses have worked incredibly hard at becoming Covid secure over the last few months, so they would be delighted to see you in the stores over the next few weeks.
Other small businesses have adapted to offer click-and-collect services or free local deliveries to make it really easy for their customers to continue to shop with them.
We’re really lucky here in Blackburn with Darwen to have a fantastic range of independent traders who I’m sure would be delighted to win this prize.
I’d like to wish every business which is nominated the very best of luck.
Whether it’s a market stall, a favourite florist, hairdressers, restaurant or a locally-based online store, if they’re based in the borough, they’ve all got a chance of winning!
The Council offers a range of advertising packages to support businesses across the borough, all offered at a not-for-profit rate.
As well as those offered as part of the prize, there’s advertising opportunities on the roadside and roundabouts, billboards and space in the council’s newspaper, The Shuttle.
