Blackburn with Darwen’s apprentice drive is back and once again the Council wants to grow its own local talent and encourage residents to work within the borough.
This year the Council is recruiting in 20 different apprentice roles, from social care to digital communications, open to people of all ages from 16+.
Residents are being invited to this year’s Apprentice Careers open event at King George’s Hall on Wednesday 22nd February at 5.30pm-7.30pm for opportunities to start in September.
The Council prioritises its annual apprenticeship programme and has supported hundreds of people over the past decade to support their career ambition.
Denise Park, Chief Executive of Blackburn with Darwen Council, said: “Our apprenticeship recruitment has always been a huge success since we started investing in people through the scheme in 2011.
“We want to grow our own talent and encourage people to stay in the borough offering rewarding careers and experience.
“We believe in home-grown talent and the apprenticeship recruitment allows us to nurture staff and get the best from people whilst supporting them to develop their personal and professional skills.”
Brayden Hartley, Marketing and Communications Apprentice at Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, said: “Since working in such a fantastic team here at the council, my skillset is now varied within separate roles and my confidence has definitely grown drastically.
“To experience a work place environment and be able to accomplish the tasks at hand is amazing.”
Successful applicants will work towards professional qualifications ranging from Level 2 to degree level with the equivalent of one day’s external training every week.
