Apply now to be Blackburn with Darwen Council’s next apprentice!

Published Thursday 30 April 2020 at 18:16

Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council is set to recruit 18 new apprentices.

The council is offering roles right across its services – everything from an apprentice roadworker to systems data analyst.

Successful applicants will receive a professional qualification with the equivalent of one days training per week.

Denise Park, the council’s Chief Executive, said:

We’re incredibly proud of our apprenticeship programme and really looking forward to a new intake joining us in September.

We realise that we’re living in incredibly uncertain times, but this scheme could offer a fantastic opportunity for someone to pursue a career doing something they’re really passionate about.

There’s a real misconception that apprenticeships are just for young people too.

Here at the council, we have apprentices of all ages – school leavers, college leavers, university graduates and residents who have decided on a change in career later in life.

They add real value to our teams, bring fresh ideas and new ways of working and very often go on to have really successful careers in local government.

Denise added:

I know there’ll be people not knowing which way to turn right now.

Whether they’ve just left education or are at home and are considering their options for the future, I’d encourage them all to have a look at the wide range of apprentices we have to offer.

It’s a chance to get hands-on experience – working full-time while benefiting from the equivalent of one days training per week.

Our teams are making a real difference to people’s lives and this is a chance to have a positive impact on Blackburn with Darwen.

We are a caring employer which promotes flexible working and we are dedicated to supporting our workforce in their careers.
