Volunteers are needed for a big re-vamp day at Roman Road Library and Community Gym in Blackburn.

Taking place on Wednesday, September 18th, everyone is welcome to come down and help with some much needed help around the site – the more the merrier!

The main tasks that need some work are :

  • Painting – The main task, there is a big room and a smaller office that could do with a fresh coat of paint, also the entrance needs a bit of work.
  • Gardening – The whole area hasn’t had any work done for a while, bushes outside needs trimming back and some planters could do with a new lease of life. The paving at the front entrance needs a jet wash and weeding.
  • Wooden fascia – The Fascia round the building is falling off and apart and could do with being replaced or repaired.

Roman Road Library and Community Gym is a public run space used by various local groups of all ages.

The day is being organised by energy company Engie, based at Walker Office Park. If anyone has any questions or would like some more information regarding this then please contact: Jordan Royle at Jordan.Royle@engie.com or on (01282) 792369.

Ward Councillor Andy Kay said:

This is a great local library and community centre in our area run by Healthy Living and a group of brilliant volunteers. It’s used by so many people, both young and old, but it does need a bit of love and attention. It would be fantastic if people could spare a few hours to come down and help out. I hope to see you there!”
