Ageing Well: Helping every year feel like a good one

Our Public Health team has relaunched their work around Ageing Well, to offer support to residents aged over 50 to stay active, connected and independent.

They want every year to feel like a good one.

Designed for residents aged 50+, Ageing Well aims to support people to stay active, connected and independent, while raising awareness of everyday behaviours and local services that help people to age well.

The Council’s Public Health team hosted an information stall at a We Are Undefeatable event held at Blackburn Youth Zone on Thursday 26 March featuring the campaign’s new leaflet, branding and key messages. Staff were on hand throughout the evening to speak with residents, answer questions, and highlight the extensive work taking place across the borough to support older people.

The We Are Undefeatable event provided the perfect platform for introducing the campaign, bringing together community groups, activity providers, and residents in a positive and welcoming setting.

The Ageing Well campaign will continue throughout the year, spotlighting the wide range of services available locally including social groups and learning opportunities, wellbeing activities, physical programmes, and support around bereavement, caring responsibilities, loneliness, and changes in health.

Ageing Well aims to ensure that every older person in the borough knows that support is available and that reaching out can be the first step towards feeling more confident, connected and in control.
