A special event to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday was held at Derwent Hall.

Older people across the borough were treated to classic tunes from the 1940s and 1950s from entertainer Joyce Kearton and enjoyed a hot meal and a quiz with fantastic prizes.

These included chocolates, stationary, adult colouring books, wine and spirits and photo albums.

Decorations featuring the Union Flag were displayed in the hall and guests were given flags and special cakes featuring images of the Queen.

The guests sang along to popular songs such as ‘White Cliffs of Dover’ courtesy of Joyce, who walked among the delighted crowd, with a few getting up to have a dance.
