Do you rely on oil for heating?

You may be eligible for a £300 one-off payment to help with rising heating costs.

Following the Government’s announcement of new support through the Crisis and Resilience Fund, the council is inviting applications from residents who are off the gas grid and struggling to afford an oil refill.

The price of home heating oil has soared due to the war between the Image of a white radiator with a hand to turn down the heatUS-Israel and Iran.

To apply, residents must:

  • Be aged 16 or over
  • Live in Blackburn with Darwen
  • Use oil as their main heating source and not be connected to the gas grid
  • Be unable to afford an oil refill (a quote or invoice is required)
  • Be receiving Universal Credit, a disability-related benefit, or be on a low income

Income limits apply and must be under £26,057 for a single working adult, or £38,870 for households with two or more working adults, with savings of up to £16,000.

Applicants will need to provide:

  • Proof of benefits or income
  • A recent bank statement
  • A heating oil quote or invoice
