Young people aged 16 and 17 are now able to have their second Covid vaccination.
Many people in this age group have already had their first dose of the vaccine since the summer – so if it has been at least 12 weeks since your first vaccine, you can book your second one.
This is important protection for you, your families, loved ones and friends – infection rates for the virus are still high, and scientists are still studying the long-term damage it can do to people.
In Blackburn and Darwen, walk-in vaccinations will be available for 16 and 17 year olds getting their second dose at Blackburn Cathedral, Blackburn – Monday to Sunday, 8:30am to 7:30pm. No appointment or booking is required.
You can visit www.nhs.uk/Covid-Vaccination or call 119 if you want to make an appointment.
You may also be able to find other sites close to where you live at www.nhs.uk/grab-a-jab. The finder shows which doses are offered at each location and to which age groups.
You don’t need to be registered with a GP or have an NHS number to get your jab, but it will be quicker if you do, so take that information with you if you can.
The vaccine offered to this age group is the Pfizer vaccine, which has been judged as safe and effective not just in the UK but in many European countries and North America, and it remains the most effective way to protect ourselves from this virus and keep ourselves and others safe.
