As part of national guidance, 16 and 17 year olds are now being encouraged to come forward and have their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The young adults of Blackburn with Darwen are advised to play their part in helping us return to normal life by getting their Covid vaccination.
This is particularly important as the end of the Summer holidays approaches and we see the return of education and apprenticeships.
Please note, you will not receive a personal invitation for your vaccination by text message or email. You should make arrangements to attend a vaccination site yourself.
All bus operators in Blackburn with Darwen are offering free transport to anyone going to get their Covid vaccination. Just let the bus driver know where you’re going when you get on!
Walk-in vaccinations are available for 16 and 17 year olds getting their first dose at the following sites. No appointment or booking is required:
- Blackburn Cathedral, Blackburn – Monday to Sunday, 8:30am to 7:30pm
- The Mall, Ainsworth Street, Blackburn – Monday and Tuesday, 8:30am to 7:30pm
- Everest Pharmacy, Darwen – Saturday and Sunday, 10:00am to 2:00pm (subject to change – call 01254 777230 for current times).
- Ivy Street Community Center, Blackburn – Friday to Sunday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.
Site opening times and locations are constantly being reviewed and updated subject to demand. Please visit the Healthier Lancs website for the most up-to-date information.
Currently, only first dose vaccines are available to 16 and 17 year olds as we await further guidance.
Deputy Youth MP Zainab Dassu has had her first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination. She’s encouraging all other young adults across the borough to do the same. Watch a short clip of her explaining why below.
