Win free tickers to Dave Stewart’s concert scheme to showcase new Blackburn talent

An acoustic pop music concert organised by Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics is coming to Blackburn’s Holy Trinity Church on July 24 (Sunday).

The musician teamed up with national heritage charity the Churches Conservation Trust to launch Church Keys – a scheme to open up locked churches and fill them with music and art.

Pairs of free tickets will be given out to the first 5 people to email dominika.piasecka@blackburn.gov.uk with ‘Church Keys’ in the subject line.

The collaboration aims to add to the cultural offering in local communities by bringing music to England’s historic churches and to provide a launch pad for promising new artists.

The gig will feature multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Martin Longstaff aka The Lake Poets.

The Lake Poets is a confirmed guest at the pop concert

Martin’s music has been described as “beautiful, thought provoking and honest” by The Guardian.

Other confirmed acts include Callaghan and Robert Vincent.

Holy Trinity Church is a Grade II listed building, meaning it bears a special architectural interest.

The church has stood empty since 1981 but is occasionally used as a cultural venue by the Friends of Holy Trinity.

Councillor Phil Riley, who is a supporter of the church, said:

Blackburn’s Holy Trinity Church is a beautiful building with great Gothic columns and stained glass windows.

We are delighted to have our own Church Keys concert which is definitely going to gain a lot of interest from local residents.

The event is a family-friendly acoustic music evening which makes a clever use of unused space and helps emerging musical artists to be recognised.

More local artists will be announced nearer the date. Tickets normally cost £11 and are available here.
