Here’s our weekly list of events in & around Blackburn & Darwen from Monday 17th November to Sunday 23rd November 2014.

This week sees the start of our Town Centre Christmas activities, with Blackburn & Darwen Christmas Light Switch On events. A full list of who will be performing is available on www.visitblackburn.co.uk or contact Blackburn Visitor Centre. Jedwood will be turning on Blackburn’s lights, with the Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles making an appearance. Britain’s Got Talent winner Jai McDowall will be lighting up Darwen.

17th Nov to 28th Nov: Those Who Can, Creative Arts Exhibition, St John’s Centre 12-4pm

18th Nov: Taxidermy for Beginners, Blackburn Museum 6pm

19th Nov: Lunch Time Concert, Blackburn Cathedral 1pm

20th Nov: How to Survive a Wild Winter, Wildlife talk by Russ Hedley, at Blackburn Library 2pm

20th Nov: Blackburn Christmas Lights Switch On & Late Night Shopping Starts. 4.45pm to 7pm

21st Nov: Paul Hollywood, Get Your Bake On! King Georges Hall 8pm

22ND Nov: Match, King Georges Hall, Windsor Suite 2pm

22nd Nov until 7th Feb 2015: Blackburn Artist Society Autumn Exhibition, Blackburn Museum & Art Gallery Wed- Sat 12 – 4.45pm

Until 29th Nov: Portrait of a Cathedral & other works on paper by Patrick Troughton, The Crypt, Blackburn Cathedral 10am -4pm

Until 10th Jan 2015: Nadeem Baghdadi, Taha Calligraphy, Blackburn Museum & Art Gallery, Wed – Sat 12- 4.45 pm

19th Nov: Each Slow Dusk,  play about action, humanity, and the legacy of war, Darwen Library Theatre 1pm

29th Nov: Christmas Market & Fashion Show, Darwen Aldridge Academy 5-9pm

21st Nov: Frankenstein, National Theatre Live Screening, Drawen Library Theatre 7pm

20th Nov: Andy Fairweather & the Low Riders, Darwen Library Theatre, 7.30PM (SOLD OUT)

22nd Nov: 10 am Children will be decorating the bottom of the Darwen Christmas tree with Mickey Mouse and Santa both making an appearance!

22nd Nov: Darwen Christmas Lights Switch On from 4pm, & the annual Nativity Parade at 3pm

Until 5th Dec: WW1 drawings and art works by James H. Morton -Exhibition at Darwen Library

Until 7th Dec:   A presentation of original paintings by amateur artists from the Farington Art Group.  Sunnyhurst Wood Visitor Centre. Open Thursday – Sunday 1pm– 4.30pm
