Local creatives are being invited to take part in Papergirl, a community street art project that has become a world wide phenomenon.

Originating in Berlin in 2006, it sees artists donate artwork to then be distributed by bicycle to random passers-by.

The project was started in response to it being a criminal offence to post art in public places within Berlin and is now in its third year in Blackburn.

The Bureau Centre for the Arts on Victoria Street will be hosting this year’s Papergirl and each contributor is invited to send in their work to be exhibited at the centre and shared online before it is distributed.

Artistic contributions may include photographs, screen prints, paintings, design, poetry, collage, textile art, drawing and doodles.

Items submitted by post should be sent to 419 Revidge Road, Blackburn, BB18DF by October 17.

Those submitted in person should be handed in at The Bureau Centre For the Arts, St John’s Church, Victoria Street, Blackburn, BB16DW by October 21.

Artwork should no bigger than A3 and have your name, website and Papergirl Blackburn on the back.
