A family-run butchers based at Blackburn Market celebrated their 60th anniversary earlier this month as the business reached a major milestone.

Pickup Butchers Ltd opened its doors in the early 1960s and the butchery has since remained a family business with Keith Pickup working at the helm, maintaining his father’s legacy on Blackburn Market.

Nestled in the heart of Blackburn, the local butcher is a staple stop for many on their weekly shopping excursion.

Keith Pickup, 57, is now the second generation of the family to have a hand in the business and is celebrating 60 years of success. He said:

I am proud that the business has done so well over the last 60 years and I am hopeful our success will continue in the future.”

Pickups currently employ four employees to help run the business and pride themselves on quality, freshness, value and service.

Mr Pickup added:

The business has evolved over the last 60 years but it very much follows the traditions of a typical butchers’ shop.

Over the decades, we have formed a solid customer base who regularly visit Blackburn Market for our products.

It’s a friendly, bustling environment and I am proud to be trading there to this day.”

The stall offers everything a food-lover could wish for including high quality locally sourced beef, pork, lamb, bacon and chicken.

Pickup Butchers also sell a variety of kebabs and ready-to-cook chicken and offer a free delivery service for orders over £30.
