A recent on the spot inspection of taxis carried out by Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council found the majority are staying up to date with licensing regulations.

One of the ways we can do this is by improving the Council website and how it works for its visitors. To help us make some important decisions about how we can make it better we have produced a survey asking people to tell us what they think about it.

Red Route for Furthergate

The first steps have been taken to turn Furthergate in Blackburn into a ‘Red Route’.

Red Routes use a package of measures including the red lines along the road edge, which are a clear signal to drivers to say ‘No Stopping’

Also included are a crackdown on illegally parked vehicles and dedicated loading areas for delivery vehicles.

Road closures update

The entrance to the Enterprise Centre car park, Hill Street leading to Tesco and the corners of Harwood and Crabtree Street in Blackburn have all reopened following road closures that were put in place last night (August 15) following the collapse of a derelict building in Crabtree Street, Blackburn.

Around the world in 28 days by bicycle Lancashire Cycle Challenge is complete!

1,389 people from across Lancashire have once again put the region on the cycling map over the past three weeks, collectively cycling 109,832 miles in the Love to Ride Lancashire Cycle Challenge (www.lovetoride.net/lancashire) – the equivalent of cycling over 4 times around the world including 179 people who took to a bike for the first time in over a year to help their workplace ride to victory.

Road closures update – burst water pipe

There has been a water mains pipe burst on Roman Road in Blackburn.

Roman Road will be closed between Newfield Drive and Stopes Brow for at least the rest of the week to allow investigations into the infrastructure to take place.
