As part of the Festival of Learning, Blackburn with Darwen Council, is launching a new town centre based venue and is inviting local residents to try their hand at a range of new skills.

The Geddes Room at the Blackburn Library will be home to a variety of new courses and workshops aimed at helping people improve their work prospects and well-being. It opens on Monday, May 22.

From Japanese Yoga to Bitesize maths, Clay Art to Photography, there’s something for everyone to have a go at. Workshops are free and most last just a few hours.

The Festival of Learning (previously Adult Learners’ Week) is the biggest celebration of lifelong learning in England. It aims to highlight the benefits of learning, celebrate the achievements of adults who have used learning to transform their lives, and to encourage everyone to embrace lifelong learning.

Sayyed Osman, Director for Localities and Prevention, said:

“We are very excited to be launching our new learning room at the library as part of the Festival of Learning this year. Adult learning is an important part of what we do and we look forward to opening our doors to anyone who is interested in learning something new and helping them to kick-start their learning journey.”
