New management wanted for community centre

Dedicated local groups or organisations are being invited to take over the running of Greenfields Community Centre.

The centre in Green Lane, Blackburn, has been managed by H F Trust since January 2013, but due to challenges in adult social care funding they have announced they are unfortunately no longer able to run it.

H F Trust, which is a charity supporting people with disabilities, is very keen to work with the new management to continue delivering activities at Greenfields.

Blackburn with Darwen Council is now seeking local organisations to come forward if they are interested in managing the centre, which has a diverse user base.

Greenfields Community Centre is a multi-use facility and is a hub of activity with a community café, a private nursery and hosts a wide range of activities for groups including youth club, archery, yoga, majorettes and an over-50s group.

A meeting with centre user-groups will be held on Wednesday, January 25 at 6pm at Greenfields Community Centre. The Council will be completing a formal tender process but would like organisations interested in the opportunity to come forward to request an informal discussion or attend the above meeting by contacting rizwana.zaahid@blackburn.gov.uk
