New document looks at local pharmacy services

A public consultation has launched on the current provision of community pharmacy services across Lancashire, including Blackburn with Darwen.

Blackburn with Darwen, Blackpool and Lancashire health and wellbeing boards have a legal duty to hold a consultation on their Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) that is currently being updated.

The PNA looks at the current shape of pharmacy services alongside the needs of the local population and enables health professionals to commission pharmaceutical services that are based on those local priorities.

It includes information on existing local services including smoking and sexual health, identifies potential gaps in provision and looks at the future needs of local residents to help shape on-going services.

The consultation will run from Monday, December 11 to Friday, February 9 2018.

The draft PNA and details about how to respond can be found here.
