The Mall Blackburn is on the hunt for an enthusiastic and proactive local charity to become its official Charity of the Year.

As part of its celebrated community programme, Mall Cares, the shopping centre will support its chosen charity by encouraging shoppers, retailers and the centre management team to raise as much awareness and money as possible throughout 2015.

Local organisations that have benefitted in previous years include Inbetweenears, which supports young adults with brain tumours, and Blackburn Youth Zone, which provides a safe and affordable environment for young people.

As well as hosting various events in the shopping centre, including activities such as collections and face painting, the chosen charity will also be asked to come up with their own exciting fundraising ideas, which will be supported by The Mall.

Loraine Jones, General Manager at The Mall Blackburn, said: “As a shopping centre at the heart of the community we pride ourselves on supporting organisations and businesses in Blackburn and beyond.

“We want to hear from local charities that have lots of exciting and creative fundraising ideas that will really inspire people to donate or lend a hand.

“Mall Cares is a fantastic commitment from The Mall Blackburn and we’re looking forward to supporting a deserving local voluntary organisation that touches our customers’ and colleagues’ hearts.

“The scheme gives us the chance to make a real difference to important causes in and we anticipate lots of interest from local charities.”

Local organisations wanting to apply should contact blackburn.marketing@themall.co.uk outlining how they would like to raise money by partnering with The Mall Blackburn and what the funds would be used for.

The deadline for entries is 5pm on Wednesday 14th January 2015.
