Ballot closing for free tickets for BBC free family workshops

Residents have until 4pm today to sign up for the ballot to apply for tickets to free family workshops such as model making with the team behind Wallace and Gromit, learning to code with Doctor Who and making a Wolfblood badge with the cast of the show.

The BBC are holding a weekend of activities in support of The National Festival of Making taking place in Blackburn town centre on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 May.

BBC activities also include demonstrations by Michelin Star chef, Nigel Haworth, Great British Bake Off stars Selasi Gbormittah and Benjamina Ebuehi, Cook Yourself Thin presenter Gizzi Erskine and award-winning TV chef Aldo Zilli who will all be cooking alongside special celebrity guests from TV and music in a pop-up kitchen in Cathedral Square.

While workshops for children include making your own Shaun the Sheep with model makers from Aardman, learn to code and micro:bit with Doctor Who and micro:bit or make-your-own Wolfblood signal badge with the cast of the show.

In addition, Cbeebies’ Let’s Go Club will be in the pop-up workshop helping to make textile crafts while BBC Lancashire will be on hand to teach wannabe presenters how to make radio programmes.
