Give your views at carer’s event

A carer’s event is being held in September to look at developing an integrated service offer for unpaid carers across Blackburn and Darwen – and would like to know what the service would look like for you.

Blackburn with Darwen Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and Blackburn with Darwen Council are holding the event on Wednesday, September 23 between 1-4pm at Livesey All Age Centre.

As part of the Integrated Care programme to join up health and social care in Blackburn with Darwen, the Council and the CCG are reviewing services for carers.

The partnership is looking to develop a new model that will support all carers whatever their age and the needs of the person they care for and would like to consult with carers on how it will work.

Integrated Care will see Council and NHS staff – GPs and practice nurses, social workers, mental health workers, community nursing teams and other health professionals like pharmacists – plan people’s care together, making it easier for people to get the help they need in one place.

The event will be focused on gathering views on what people would like the future service to look like.  All carers are welcome to attend and talk to a range of stakeholders including providers of carer’s services, schools, primary care and leisure centres.

Councillor Mustafa Desai, Blackburn with Darwen Council’s Executive member for Health and Adult Social Care, said:

This event is a really good way for carers in the borough to come together and share their views to help make their experience a better one.

I hope people can come along and help the partnership put together the best service they can which will give the best possible help to both carers and the people they look after.”

If you are a carer or a professional working with carers who’s interested in contributing to design of the future service, please contact Lauren Martin (lauren.martin@lancashirecsu.nhs.uk) for more information and to book a place.
