Give us your views: Council savings and spending

Published Wednesday 6 December 2017 at 16:18

Whilst the Council is determined to remain ambitious, budget challenges are here to stay for the foreseeable future.

Since 2010 we have lost more than 40% of our funding from central government and over the same period, demand for our services and support has grown significantly. We are working through a detailed financial plan taking us to 2020. Over the years lots of different ways of addressing the funding gap have been used, including reducing and restructuring services and increasing fees and charges. All very difficult decisions.  The challenges are still great, with reserves down to a minimum. We are going to be focusing on the opportunities that digital innovation can bring as we look to  both make further savings and improve services.

We realise that it’s important that we ask on a regular basis about the services you use and value.

This short survey will take just a few minutes and by taking part you can help influence our planning around all aspects of our financial thinking ahead of us setting a balance budget in February 2018.  You can take part online and it will be promoted on social media.

Anybody who submits their email address will be entered into a free prize draw for a £50 voucher for The Mall, Blackburn.
