Fusion Awards 2015

Volunteers, charity champions and entrepreneurs from across the North West are to gather in Blackburn this weekend for the Fusion Awards.

The awards are the region’s biggest awards event of their kind and will take place on Saturday, May 30, in the Concert Hall at King George’s Hall.

It aims to celebrate community cohesion and the contribution of all communities in helping to make the region a better place to live.

Categories include Community group of the year, Community cohesion award, Man of the year, Woman of the year, Entrepreneur of the year, Youth leadership award and Public service award.

Five individual awards will also honour individuals in specific fields from sport to education.

Councillor Mohammed Khan, Leader of Blackburn with Darwen Council, said:

“The Fusion Awards is a wonderful event and celebrates the diversity and community spirit of our borough.”

“Blackburn with Darwen Council works hard to promote and foster a strong sense of community cohesion, pride in belonging to the borough and thriving neighbourhoods. We are proud  to support the  Community Cohesion award which plays tribute to  the hard work and education of nominees in the key area.”

Money raised on the night will go towards the Connect UK team efforts to raise money for the East Lancashire Hospice in the coming year.

Chairman of Connect UK, Councillor Salim Sidat,said:

“Everybody at Connect UK are proud to be associated with the 2015 Fusion Awards. It is great to be raising money for the hospice on the night.”
