Funding for First World War projects through Heritage Lottery Fund

Heritage Lottery Fund can provide funding to help groups, communities and organisations to explore, conserve and share heritage of the First World War, from memorials, buildings and sites, photographs, letters and literature.

Grants of between £3,000 and £10,000 are available through the First World War: then and now programme for community projects that focus on any heritage related to the First World War. The application process through the First World War: then and now programme is short with a quick decision on whether your project will be funded.

For larger amounts grants of between £10,000 and £100,000 are available through Our Heritage and Young Roots programmes and the Heritage Grants programme provides grants of £100,00 upwards Both the Our Heritage and Heritage Grants programmes provide grants for any type of heritage project, and Young Roots provides grants for projects led by young people. Your project can focus on any heritage related to the First World War.

In assessing applications, Heritage Lottery Fund take account of the range of outcomes for heritage, people and communities that projects will achieve.
