Barbora Biela was presented with £25 of shopping vouchers by Amy Greenhalgh after she was picked out of the hat as winner of the FALLSTOP Challenge which took place at the Mall in February

Launched earlier this year, the FALLSTOP campaign aims to raise awareness of simple steps people can take to stay on their feet and carry on doing the activities they enjoy as they get older.

As part of the campaign, the FALLSTOP Challenge was held at The Mall, Blackburn, and Darwen Market.  People passing the Challenge were invited to examine a mock-up living room, erected in the middle of the shopping areas, and to spot as many common fall hazards as they could from outside the set.  The Challenge proved very popular and everyone who took part was entered into a free prize draw.  The winner from the Mall event was Barbora Biela.  The winner from the Darwen event will be announced shortly.

Councillor Mohammed Khan Executive member for Health and Adult Social Care said:

Falls are one of the most common accidents, and the FALLSTOP campaign is aimed at showing how easily they can be prevented, helping people stay safe and well.  The aim of the FALLSTOP Challenge was to teach people about fall hazards in a fun and interactive way that will stick in their minds long after the event.
