An event was held in Blackburn town centre to raise awareness about Mencap’s ‘Hear My Voice’ campaign, aimed at helping people with a learning disability and their families get involved in the political process and have their vote heard.

Held at Your Support Your Choice on Town Hall Street, the event included a talk from Deputy Returning Officer Ben Aspinall, who explained the voting process, help that was available on the day and how to access it.

There were also several workshops looking at voting and the democratic process, with a question and answer session.

The event was organised by the Blackburn with Darwen Council Adult Social Care team.
