PEOPLE in Darwen are being invited to meet their local police, fire and ambulance workers as part of a family fun day in the town this weekend.

Hosted by the local Neighbourhood Policing Team, the ‘999 day’ will take place on Darwen Town Centre Market Square on Saturday 29th July.

The event, which is now in its 12th year, will see emergency response vehicles on display including police cars, fire engines and mountain rescue teams. Activities include face painting, a bouncy castle, a raffle, a tombola and many more.

PCSO Nick Gisicz from Darwen Neighbourhood Policing team said:

This is a fantastic opportunity for the people of Darwen and surrounding areas to come and meet representatives from the local emergency services.

It’s a fabulous day to highlight the vital work of the emergency services whilst raising money for a good cause and I’d like to thank everyone for their efforts in pulling together what I’m sure will be a great day for everyone.

This year all proceeds will go towards the Rosemere Cancer Foundation.
