The importance of what, when and how we eat, and why it matters is the theme of a production as part of next month’s First Thursday event.

Performances of ‘Eat!’, brought to us by Super Slow Way and Spot On Rural Touring, a show which is based on true food related stories shared by members of the public on Thursday, August 7, will take place in and around four caravans which will be based on Town Hall Square.

With performances taking place between 2-7pm on the hour every hour, it will be sure to take you on a unique journey by weaving together theatre, live music, installation, beatbox and spoken word.

Anyone interested in this exciting performance is encouraged to book, by ringing Blackburn Museum on (01254) 667130.

First Thursdays are part of the Blackburn is Open scheme, which aims to put the town back on the map as a vibrant and unique place to visit and shop.

The events, that take place on the first Thursday of every month, see the town centre come alive with art and music.

There will be an exhibition in the Blackburn is Open Space throughout the day, showcasing Islamic Art, which includes a free Calligraphy workshop in the Blackburn is Open Space from 11-4pm.

Liz n Lil’s Café on Northgate will again host an arts and craft market from 4-8pm, where shoppers can pick up unique and handcrafted pieces and enjoy a cup of tea and a cake at the same time.

The boys at WEAVE will be holding a screen printing workshop between 12-5pm, where anyone can drop in and print a stylish design onto a tote bag that you can take away with you, all for £5.

Blackburn Film Club will be showing ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’, in the Blackburn is Open pop up Cinema Space, at 6pm and 9pm. Entry is £5 with free popcorn and Cocktails. Tickets are limited, and you can RSVP via the facebook event.

Also, Blackburn Art’s Collective ‘New Wave Art’s’ will be exhibiting artwork produced in the St John’s Centre, after a month exhibition titled ALTER.

Blackburn is Open is a scheme to build a creative community in the heart of Blackburn.
