Could you be a foster carer?

An information evening is being held for people interested in becoming a foster carer.

The information evening takes place on Thursday, September 14th, from 5.30pm, at Livesey Children and All Age Centre, Andrew Close, Blackburn, BB2 4NU.

Social workers and staff from the Blackburn with Darwen Let’s Foster team will be on hand to answer any questions.

Councillor Maureen Bateson, Executive Member for Children’s Services, said: “Locally we have many children waiting for a foster family, I would like to appeal to people who are interested in helping children by considering fostering and coming along to our information evening.

“In Blackburn with Darwen there’s a shortage of foster carers, particularly for older children, children with disabilities and sibling groups.

“Almost anybody can be considered for fostering. If you are single, a couple, in a same sex relationship or even if you are in employment, you can still be considered for fostering.

“People often don’t realise that you don’t have to own your own home to be considered for fostering, as long as you have a spare bedroom and room in your heart that’s all we ask.”
