Blackburn Youth Zone will host a two hour Zumbathon from 3pm till 5pm on Sunday, March 12th, open to women and girls, in celebration of International Women’s Day.

Led by qualified Zumba instructors, the event is set to include high-energy music, fitness, and fun suitable for all abilities including beginners.

Blackburn Youth Zone is one of many local organisations that have pledged to take part in Blackburn with Darwen’s International Women’s Day celebrations and will open its doors to both Youth Zone members as well as women from the community.

International Women’s Day on Wednesday, March 8th, is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

Fahima Iqbal, Dance and Fitness Instructor at Blackburn Youth Zone said:

Youth Zone encourages young people aged 8-18 to take action to improve their health and wellbeing by providing them with a safe and secure environment to take part in sports, dance and fitness 7 days per week.

We decided to host a Zumbathon in celebration of International Women’s Day to show women and girls how to have fun through fitness.”

The event is sponsored by Blackburn based businesses, Womanzone and Chrysalis Woman.

Tickets cost just 50p for 8 to 18 year olds and £2.50 for adults. Refreshments will be provided.

Attendees aged 8-12 year olds must be accompanied by an adult.
