The WINNER of the Blackburn BID’s Big Easter Egg Hunt has been awarded with a £500 shopping trip and a giant 3-foot chocolate egg.

Primary school worker, Lisa Shorrock, travelled from Clitheroe with her family to complete the Easter trail which took place from Saturday, 12th March until Monday, 4th April.

She said: “The whole family is absolutely delighted to have won £500 worth of shopping vouchers and one of the gigantic eggs. It took us around two hours to complete the hunt with three children but they had a blast trying to spot the eggs.

“I’ve never seen an activity on this scale in Blackburn and my family and I discovered a whole host of shops and tearooms we didn’t even know existed. I hope the Blackburn BID continues to organise fun events like this one.”

The egg hunt, which received over three hundred entries, invited visitors to follow a series of cryptic clues around the town centre in a bid to win the star prize.

Eleven other participants were also chosen at random to win the remaining giant chocolate creations.

Refreshment Bar was amongst one of twelve businesses chosen to host an egg. Team member at the eatery, Kay Leaver, said: “The egg hunt was a tremendous success and a wonderful fun-filled activity for families. The Easter activity received plenty of positive feedback, increased our footfall and put us firmly on the map.”

Manager of the Blackburn BID, Harriet Roberts, said: “We want to thank everyone who took part in egg hunt. The event successfully provided hours of fun for families and attracted visitors from across the region to the town centre.”

Festivities will continue when seven theatrical dragons invade Blackburn Town Centre to celebrate St George’s Day on Saturday, 23rd April.
