Sharing lives is a big success

A Blackburn woman has told how her family has been transformed through Blackburn with Darwen Councils Shared Lives programme

Rachel Ryan offers support to Faye, who has learning difficulties, as a Shared Lives carer, a scheme which provides vulnerable adults the chance to live with families or individuals who can offer support and encouragement so that they can live as independently as possible.

Busy week for the Mayor

This week the Mayor will be out and about once again fulfilling his official engagements.

The Mayor, who began his mayoral year in May, will next week attend the Citizenship Ceremony in the Council Chamber on Tuesday by the Deputy Mayor, to attend the Mayor of Chorley’s ‘At Home’ at Astley Hall on Thursday along with the Mayoress, and finally to attend A Forum on ‘Britain & South Asia – The quest for Sustainable Peace’ at the Lal Qila Restaurant in Manchester on Friday.

Out and about with the Mayor

This week the Mayor will be out and about once again fulfilling his official engagements.

The Mayor, who began his mayoral year in May, will next week receive a visit by Ashleigh Primary School Council on Monday, to receive a visit by St Gabriel’s Beaver Group on Tuesday, to attend the opening of Brookhouse Early Years Unit, Whalley Street, also to attend the Launch of the Poppy Appeal along side the Mayoress on Friday and finally to attend the Blackburn Music Society performance of ELIJAH at Blackburn Cathedral on Saturday along side the Mayoress.

This week the Mayor will be out and about once again fulfilling his official engagements.

The Mayor, who began his mayoral year in May, will next week attend Ashleigh Primary School, to receive a visit by Copenhagen Temple, Salvation Army Band, to attend the Salvation Army Band Concert at the Westholme School Theatre along with the Mayoress on Monday, Deputy Mayor to attend the opening of refurbished McDonald’s on Wednesday, will attend Blackburn College Higher Education Graduation along side the Mayoress on Thursday, to receive a visit by Leamington Road, Scout Group along side the Mayoress on Friday and finally to attend Blackburn Sea Cadet Annual Trafalgar Dinner at Blackburn Cathedral along side the Mayoress on Saturday.

Proposals for a new state of the art 60 bed service in Darwen have been unveiled.

The multimillion pound scheme is being developed by national social care charity Community Integrated Care in partnership with Blackburn with Darwen Council and other local partners

The care service is intended to be a specialist site for short term, rehabilitation stays, with some specialist dementia services and will be built on the former Council run Greenways site.

The stars come out for Blackburn’s Christmas Lights Switch On

The Blackburn BID (Business Improvement District) and Blackburn with Darwen Council have announced the date for this year’s Christmas Lights Switch On as Thursday, November 19 and a line-up of stars will be there to tempt all the family to the town centre for the party of the year.
